The immediate past Governor of Osun State and Minister of the Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has said that, security is multi-dimensional and requires multi-dimensional approach, hence the need  for the security agencies to internalize and synergize with other relevant stake holders in the society for maximum peace, security and development to be achieved in Nigeria. He stated this during the 4-Day training programme held at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) Conference Hall A, Abuja with the theme “Leadership in National Security”.

The Course which commenced on Monday 7 October 2019 was designed to provide participants the opportunity to understand the challenges and dynamics of National Security Leadership with a view to enhancing their capability in the discharge of their assigned roles.

He commended the officers and men of the Nigerian armed forces and other security agencies for the sacrifices they are constantly making at ensuring that Nigeria is peaceful and safe.

In his goodwill message, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai, who was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), LT Gen Lamidi Adeosun described the training as timely, especially with the current security challenges confronting Nigeria.  He emphasized that, national security has become an issue of concern not only to the military and other security agencies but for everyone.

He further stated that in order to create the necessary synergy that would allow for maximum success in tackling national security challenges, it is pertinent for all stake holders in the security sector to understand their individual roles, as well as those of other parties.

Earlier, the Director General NARC, Major Gen GA Wahab (Rtd) welcomed the participants to the Centre. He equally, hoped that the course would expand the knowledge and expertise of the participants, as well as equip them with the requisite leadership skills in the discharge of their duties.

The training programme was organised by NARC in collaboration with Peace Building and Development Consult (PBDC) an indigenous Non-Governmental Organisation with expertise in peace building and advocacy. The main objective of the training was to enable the leadership in national security and other stake holders to brainstorm on building new relationships across the wide spectrum of attendees which are vital requirements in managing the evolving national security architecture. Accordingly, the Resource persons for the course were drawn from Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS), other relevant government agencies and private sectors.
