The National President Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) Mrs Salamatu F Yahaya has recently urged women especial those leaving in the barracks community to uphold and cherish their responsibility of protecting the sanctity of the home and provide effective meaningful training to the youths.
She disclosed this on the occasion of the commissioning of NAOWA 6 Division Chapter Secretariat Complex, remodeled Skill Acquisition Center Annex, Fati Attahiru Wellness Center and Elizabeth Irefin NAOWA Nursery and Primary School Library.
Mrs Salamatu Yahaya commended the effort of the General Officer Commanding 6 Division Maj Gen Sani Gambo Mohammed and his wife the chairperson NAOWA 6 Division Chapter Mrs Hafsat Mohammed on the completion of the projects stating that the projects will provide a conducive atmosphere for members to unite and serve optimally as well as address mental health issues and aid in development of skills amongst youths and women in Port Harcourt Barracks.
She enjoined the women to ensure proper maintenance of the facilities adding that efforts will be made to ensure the NAOWA school library is well stocked with quality and educational materials to aid in the upbringing of the children.
She equally used the opportunity to donate food materials and cash to widows of the fallen heroes who died in the line of duty assuring them that the sacrifices of their husbands will not be forgotten. She admonished them to be of good behaviour and also train their children to bring honour and protect the dignity of the barracks and their families.
In her address, the Chairperson Mrs Hafset Mohammed assured the NAOWA President of the commitment of all members of NAOWA 6 Div Chapter towards actualising her vision and impacting the lives of women and youths in all Barracks under 6 Division.
