Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has decorated his former Aide-De-Camp (ADC), Brigadier General Ojogbane Adegbe, with the prestigious rank of Major General in the Nigerian Army. The brief but symbolic ceremony, held in Abuja, celebrated the career progression of an officer who served as Jonathan’s ADC during his presidency from 2010 to 2015.
Major General Adegbe, an accomplished intelligence officer, is currently the Director of Foreign Liaison at the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), where he oversees the coordination of Nigeria’s international military intelligence engagements and partnerships.

Born on 12 May 1972 in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Adegbe was commissioned into the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps in 1995. Over the past three decades, he has held critical command, staff, and instructional appointments across the armed forces.
His previous roles include:
-
Director, Psychological Operations, Defence Headquarters
-
Acting Director, Psychological Warfare, Defence Headquarters
-
Various leadership and intelligence assignments within the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps
Adegbe is widely regarded within defence circles as a disciplined, intelligent, and highly trusted officer — traits that distinguished his tenure as ADC to President Jonathan throughout his administration.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Jonathan congratulated Adegbe on his elevation, describing it as a well-earned recognition of dedication, loyalty, and professional excellence. He commended the Nigerian Army for acknowledging officers who distinguish themselves in service to the nation.
The event was attended by senior military officers, colleagues, family members, and associates who gathered to celebrate the new Major General’s milestone achievement.
Major General Adegbe’s promotion reinforces the Nigerian Army’s continued effort to strengthen its leadership cadre, particularly within the intelligence community, at a time of evolving national and regional security challenges.
