The Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), Abuja, on Tuesday 9 December 2025, decorated 32 senior officers with their new ranks — including former Chief of Military Public Information at the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Abubakar Abdullahi, who was elevated to the rank of Colonel.
Two senior officers were promoted to Brigadier General, while 30 others, including Abdullahi, were decorated as Colonels during the ceremony presided over by the Director General of the Centre, Major General J.G.K. Myam (Rtd).
Gen. Myam praised the honourees for their professionalism, strategic value and operational contributions to national security, noting that Abdullahi, in particular, distinguished himself through effective communication and strategic messaging in the Lake Chad theatre of operations.
Promotion as a Renewed Call to Service
The DG charged the newly promoted officers to see their elevation as motivation for greater service, emphasising that higher rank demands deeper commitment, sharpened leadership and responsibility.
“Promotion is both a recognition and a call to do more,” he stated, highlighting that their new status reflects confidence from the Chief of Army Staff and the Army Council.
He urged the officers — participants of the Leadership and Strategic Studies Course at NARC — to embrace continuous learning, noting that the centre will further stretch their intellectual capacity and leadership abilities as they grow into higher command roles.
He congratulated their families, colleagues and communities, encouraging them to remain steadfast in professionalism and national service.
Reflection, Gratitude and Military Camaraderie
Delivering the vote of thanks, Brigadier General Y. Ibrahim described the ceremony as both a celebration and a reminder of responsibility. He stressed the enduring relevance of focus, mentorship and discipline in military leadership.
He thanked senior officers, distinguished guests and family members for supporting the honourees, and reaffirmed loyalty to the Nigerian Army and the values it represents.
