In a strategic move aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s defence and security architecture, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced new appointments in the hierarchy of the Armed Forces.
New Defence Leadership Announced
The President appointed General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, succeeding General Christopher Musa.
Other key appointments include:
- Major-General W. Shaibu – Chief of Army Staff
- Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke – Chief of Air Staff
- Rear Admiral I. Abbas – Chief of Naval Staff
- Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye – retains position as Chief of Defence Intelligence
Acknowledging Service and Dedication
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, President Tinubu expressed deep appreciation to the outgoing Service Chiefs for their patriotic service, discipline, and dedication to duty.
“The nation remains grateful for their leadership and sacrifices in safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty,” the President stated.
A Call for Renewed Commitment
President Tinubu charged the newly appointed Service Chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them by enhancing the professionalism, vigilance, and unity that define the Armed Forces of Nigeria. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among the military branches in addressing emerging security threats and protecting national interests.
All appointments, according to the Presidency, take immediate effect.
