According to the statement issued by Nigerien Major of the Armies decides to subscribe to the Defense and Security Forces declaration. The official announcement is as stated below;
STATEMENT FROM THE ARMY CHAIRMAN
The Military Command of the Nigerien Armed Forces consisting of the Chief of Army and Chief of Staff of Armys, as a result of a meeting held on 26th July 2023 and reasoned, on the one hand, to preserve the physical integrity of the President of the Republic and his family, to avoid confrontation murder between the various Forces that beyond the latter could cause a bloodbath and tarnish the safety of the population and elsewhere, in order to preserve cohesion within the Defense and Security Forces, have decided to subscribe to the declaration of the Defense and Security Forces Any foreign military intervention, from any source, would risk having catastrophic and uncontrollable consequences for our populations and chaos for our country.
The Staff of the Armed Forces reminds, on the other hand, that our country is still subject to insecurity imposed by the Terrorist Armed Groups and other Organized Crime Groups. Therefore, he calls on the entire FDS to remain focused on their missions and to maintain their well-known combativeness for continuing the fight against terrorism and organized crime, for the ultimate goal which is the well-being of our populations.
