NAOWA PRESIDENT MRS SALAMATU FARUK YAHAYA WINNING HEARTS AND MINDS

[responsivevoice_button voice=”UK English Male”]  The President Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) Mrs Salamatu Faruk Yahaya in a bid to support Nigerian troops in the fight against terrorism and Banditry have  employed the used non-kinetic approach in winning hearts and minds. This was seen in her state tour to Sokoto State where she passionately contribute to the welfare of the defence community in the state. Her  approach to the existing national security threats was well received by the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, His Excellency Right Honourable Aminu Waziri Tambuwal who in return assured NAOWA of his support at all times. He gave the assurance when the President Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) Mrs Salamatu Faruk Yahaya alongside National Executive of the Association paid him a courtesy visit today at the government House Sokoto.

Governor Tambuwal said he was happy to receive the NAOWA President because she was part of the State as her husband the Chief of Army Staff is from Sokoto. He promised to engage his friends and associates to also support the Association.

Earlier, Mrs Salamatu Faruk Yahaya thanked the Governor for the support he has always shown to NAOWA, adding that her visit to Sokoto was a homecoming for her. Similarly, the wife of the Governor of Sokoto State Her Excellency Hajiya Mariya Aminu Tambuwal assured the the President NAOWA of her desire to collaborate with the Association hence they have similar objectives. She further congratulated NAOWA for its noble objectives and the good works in the country, especially in the barracks.

On her part, the President NAOWA said that her visit was to extend a hand of friendship and to seek collaboration with the Mariya Tambuwal Development Initiative(MTDI). She added that the Association over the years has touched so many lives through provision of quality education, skills acquisition, empowerment programmes, donation of relief materials.

In a related development, the Sultan of Sokoto His Eminence Dr Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar iii has expressed total support for NAOWA. He stated this when the President NAOWA led the Association’s National Executive today on a visit to his Palace. The Sultan said he would support NAOWA morally and materially if possible. He used the medium to invite NAOWA for a gender based seminar being an NGO. He also prayed that God will guide the President NAOWA as she leads the Nigerian Army Wives in this trying period.

In her remarks earlier, the President NAOWA Mrs Salamatu Faruk Yahaya said she was overwhelmed visiting the Royal father whom she described as a source of inspiration to them.

She stated that the purpose of the visit was to pay homage and appreciate the Sultan for his guidance, prayers and support. Prior to the visit, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI Major General Uwem Bassey lauded NAOWA for its programmes across all Barracks. Major General Bassey assured the President NAOWA of 8 Division’s support.

During the visit, the President NAOWA laid foundation for a block of 6 classrooms and 2 staff rooms at NAOWA school Giginya Barracks, donated food items and token to widows, presented gifts to soldiers’ wives and token to the sick at 8 Division Medical Stores and Hospital. She also donated food items to Lugga Community.

The visit featured group photographs, presentation of plaques/souvenirs and signing of visitor’s register.
