Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai has said that the Nigerian Army Reference Hospital (ARH); will overcome health and medical challenges of troops after completion. According to him, troops of Operation Lafiya Dole in Northeast; are fighting Boko Haram insurgency in Sambisa Forest and Lake Chad region. Buratai disclosed this Monday in Maiduguri, at a ground breaking ceremony of laying foundation for army reference hospital. “This hospital; after completion; will provide health and medical needs of our troops to end decade long insurgency in Northeast.”

While lamenting on the lost time of spend on evacuating sick and wounded troops, he said: “The completion of reference hospital in Maiduguri, with medical staff and equipment could reduce lost time and lives of referred wounded troops to the Kaduna hospital. “The 200-bed capacity world class hospital; will also provide quality healthcare delivery services to our troops and residents of Maiduguri metropolis.” According to him, the hospital when completed will have a medical and equipment stores, power and gas plants and a parking lot for 100 vehicles.
In his brief remarks, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state; said the state government shares the same philosophy Buratai in establishing an Army referral hospital. He noted that the completion of hospital could also strengthen military/civilian relationship.“The completion of this hospital will add more values to both troops and communities of Borno state,” he said.
